Tropical Storm Update

If Beryl remains subtropical, the showers/storms & strong winds will remain displaced far from the center. These impacts could potentially rotate onshore NE Florida then spread down the peninsula into portions of central Florida. The Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Volusia County to allow for track/size uncertainties. Areas from Orlando to Cape Canaveral north should continue to monitor Beryl’s impacts.

Expected Impacts from Subtropical Storm Beryl for all of east-central Florida:
•       Greatest impacts will occur from late Sunday afternoon through Monday morning, coinciding with Beryl making landfall across NE Florida/SE Georgia early Monday morning.
•       Boating conditions rapidly deteriorating late tonight as swell from Beryl moves into the waters north of Cape Canaveral.

Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, North Brevard Counties: Rain squalls beginning to affect area by late Sunday morning, becoming more frequent during the afternoon and evening.
Winds:
•       Sustained winds will be west-southwest 15-20 mph inland and around 20 mph along the Volusia coast Sunday afternoon through Monday Afternoon.
•       Passing squalls will contain wind gusts of 30-40 mph, especially with daytime heating Sunday and Monday afternoons.
Rain:
•       Totals of 1-3 inches through Monday evening; highest rainfall amounts likely occurring Monday afternoon.
•       Isolated higher amounts possible in areas impacted by multiple heavy showers/squalls.

Seas: Building to 9-12’ offshore and 7-8’ near shore Sunday afternoon; continuing into Monday.

Fire Weather: High temperatures combined with gusty westerly winds may lead to rapid spread of any new or existing fires. Potential for cloud to ground lighting exists with passing thunderstorms.

Osceola, South Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee Counties: Daytime heating Sunday afternoon and Monday afternoon should result in formation of numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. A few of the storms could become strong or severe.

•       Winds:
•       Breezy west-southwest winds 15-20mph starting Sunday afternoon.
•       Localized gusts over 40mph possible in stronger storms, especially Monday afternoon.
•       Rain:
•       Up to 2 inches through Monday evening, highest rainfall totals likely Monday afternoon.
•       Seas:
•       Building to 8-10’ offshore and 6-8’ near shore Sunday evening; continuing Monday.
