Tropical Storm Andrea

A plume of deep tropical moisture has now become Tropical Storm Andrea continues to stream northward from the Gulf of Mexico into east central Florida.  This will keep a high coverage of rain and storms with the potential for a multi-day heavy rainfall event.  Slow moving storms will produce heavy rainfall with locally up to 3 inches again today, causing temporary minor flooding of streets and poor drainage areas.  Most areas though will see 1 inch or less today.

Andrea is forecasted to lift north and northeast across the eastern Gulf of Mexico tonight and across north Florida Thursday night.  A more widespread heavy rain event is possible late tonight into early Friday across east central Florida with total rainfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches possible, with locally higher amounts (this total is for today through early Friday morning).  A Flood Watch has been issued for all of east central Florida through late Thursday night.

In addition, isolated tornadoes will be possible as early as late tonight and continuing into Thursday night as the low lifts north over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico.  Breezy conditions can be expected during the day on Thursday into Thursday evening, and once again on Friday.  Winds will also be gusty at times during this period.

Satellite Beach Fire Rescue will keep you posted of any substantial changes.
